I have a NUC5i5RYK. Yeah they're the OEM release from Intel Download Realtek* High Definition Audio Driver for NUC5ixRY
After testing in Windows 7 and 10 and trying different driver version #s for Intel(R) Display Audio in W10 I have concluded it's not the OS or the driver version. It's just a bad driver that sounds terrible no matter what. I have disabled the device so I don't have to see it. So only the Realtek audio device is usable. On Windows 7 I use 8648 HDA. 8854 UAD on 10 has way too much bass so time to hunt for a better version for my humble ALC283 codec.

Thx for the update MoKiChU.
Nice, MoKiChU. Thanks
I find 9116 has a somewhat muffled bass, and canned mids and highs sound.
But at least the compression isn't so bad as 9107 was.
9045 is still tops
HDA 9088 is still tops also
Probably nobody knows the answer to this, but did anyone ever figure out why exactly Realtek seemingly spits out a new driver every other day? One would think it would be a one and done deal if it's a hardware chip.
They probably produce these drivers every day (except weekends), but it is the OEMs who decide which drivers they will use. UAD drivers (though sometimes HDA drivers as well) are ordered by the OEM
