Is Samsung Magician a piece of crap?

Windows 10 Pro x64, 22H2.
Samsung Magician, the latest one.

Samsung does so much advertising about this ~500MB crap on their web page and anywhere else, they even included their pamphlet with the computer parts but it detected my three SATA Western Digital data drives and it wasn't able to detect its own Samsung 980 PRO 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD.
I already dug around for answers and found too many conflicting problems and answers and none of the threads on internet have a real solution so I uninstalled it.
Has any of you guys experienced this problem, is this software really needed?

Aida64 can detect the Samsung drive and it tells brand and model number while Samsung's own software was spinning and couldn't see its own drive while detecting other SATA drives.
Regarding eBay, yes there are fakes and there are professional sellers too, same goes for Amazon.

Other SSD manufacturers have similar Apps.

Crucial/Micron Storage Executive.
WD Dashboard.

The main use is updating the SSD Controller Firmware, changing the SED key, maybe the rather pointless gaming features.
Others like SMART data, TBW etc can be read by other applications.

In the case of Samsung which produced some SSD drives with faulty Firmware, Samsung Magician was rather vital to the unlucky purchasers.
It is not something normally vital, but installing it occasionally does has some value.
