There will be no visible output or change in appearance. Windows Update is silently doing its job in the background, just like it would normally do before you disabled automatic updates.

But if you open the Store App, you might see a few apps which are updating by themselves.
ok, I just thought it would behave like the Powershell, and show me results.

I never disabled automatic updates. Are you saying I should when using the script?

I sometimes have an app that isn't behaving right. Resetting it almost always fixes it.

You know how often I come across one of those "hiding in plain sight" situations, whether I eventually discover it myself, usually by mistake or happenstance, or someone gives me a clue? Brilliant simplicity. Thanks for that!

Your first question was about regulating updates, @dalchina replied with instructions on how to disable automatic updates, because that's the only dial Windows provides. There are no other controls.

My script is for manually invoking updates, when automatic updates have been disabled. In all honesty, most Store apps (outside of Facebook & Instagram) don't frequently update themselves. How much time is spent downloading them is negligible on a daily or weekly basis.

The real reason for disabling updates is if you want to keep an older version of an app, because the publisher wants you to replace it with a later release (which you don't prefer).

ok, so just to be clear, the script can only do it's job is when auto update is disabled? I ran it when auto update was enabled.

If I run it with auto update disabled, will I get read out of the changes?

The script will update Store apps, regardless of whether auto updates are turned off.

There is no readout of changes, other than going into the Store and looking at your app history. Here's the analogy: if you have auto updates for apps on your smartphone or tablet, does it bother telling you which ones got updated? No, they're silent and you have to look at your device's Apps page for recent activity.
