Win. 10 Photo Viewer Problem

Photos app (Store app) on the left, old Windows Photo Viewer (which is only present if you specifically reinstate it) on the right:


The Photo Viewer does appear here in Settings:

it takes so long for windows photo viewer to load a pic

For how long have you had this problem?

If you
- launch a dfferent program to view images, is that also slow?
- change your default viewer, is that also slow?

If you enable the preview pane in file explorer, does that show images quickly?

By way of a routine check, run
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command prompt. This scans only and changes nothing.

Report if that passes.

If your images are on another drive or partition, then change c: to that drive's letter and run the command again.

Do you find that after the first image has been displayed and the viewer is open, you can quickly see the next image, or is that also slow?

Again: For how long have you had this problem?

The viewer is my default app. but I can only find it in the default apps. under settings not in settings itself.

- because it's not an app or a program installed in the usual way- rather it's implemented as part of the OS.

if I just open a photo with it the normal way there are no three dots in the corner.

- because you've chosen to use Windows Photo Viewer and the posts you're reading don't refer to that.

Enabling the preview pane I'm don't know what you mean by that

Had you thought of either using Google or searching the Tutorials section? Either would tell you.

Hi, video? Or image.. As for Onedrive, do you have it enabled as default, or have you uninstalled it?

By next - e.g. with the program still open, you open the next image by browsing to it or by using the arrow buttons (photo viewer).

How long is 'so long'?

Is there any difference if there's just one image in the folder you're viewing, vs many?

Boot to Safe Mode and then try viewing images. Any change?
