    Free PDF Editor

My PDF editor I purchased years ago has given up the ghost (some how got corrupted).

Basically all I really need to do is read and cope info on PDF files (bank statements for instance). Does anyone know of a decent free piece of software that will do this?

    Thanks

There are dozens of free PDF Readers around, which includes Browsers such as Edge and Chrome.
The traditional favourite is of course Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Whether you can copy contents depends on permissions.

I don't understand why you are asking about PDF editors when your description indicates that all you need is a PDF reader.

As NMI said, Edge can read and, where PDF file permissions allow***, copy text from PDF files.
Some people use the very basic SumatraPDF.
I use Foxit Reader. I find its Advanced search capabilities extremely useful.
    Others use other PDF readers.

*** PDF files can be published with deliberate limitations. It's up to its publisher what to allow.
    - Some are set up to demand a password to view the file.
    - Some are set up to disallow copying of text.

    All the best,

I would just like to have the pdf reader closer at hand than using edge.
I wanted someone to recommend a good free pdf reader. BTW Adobe Acrobat (free version) will not do what I want.

    Thanks

What do you mean "closer at hand"?

What do you want and which part of what you want does it not do?

If you need to edit PDFs then PDF-Xchange works well. I currently use Okular which is free. Okular - The Universal Document Viewer

How do you format downloaded webpages so that parts of the data isn't hidden between pages on the PDF?

I didn't know you could edit PDFs with Edge, thanks for the link.

I've been using LibreOffice, somewhat crude, but its got a free version that allows PDF editing and making your own PDFs with its Word-like module. Very useful for converting .txt files to PDF and combining PDFs.

The only one suggested that I thought was free was the Okular-the universal Document Read. I have it downloaded and will check it out later.
