    SyncToy problems

I've recently bought a new PC, running Windows 10, which is up-to-date, version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.685).
In the past I've used SyncToy to backup files, but I can't get this to install on my new PC.
When I try to install SyncToy, I get this message:
"This setup requires the .NET Framework version 2.0.50727. Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained from the web. Would you like to do this now?"
When I do this, and try again to install SyncToy, I get the same message. It looks as if the latest version of .NET is not what is required.
If I try to install the requested version of .NET, then I get a message that a more recent version is already installed.
Is SyncToy no longer a viable means of backing up?

If it is still a viable backup method, how can I get it to install - keep it simple, please.
Any help will be gratefully received.
    Cheers
    Ralph

Hi, you may find the various suggestions here helpful:

However, given its age (2009, Vista) you might consider using a supported alternative. Perhaps some ideas here:

For what it’s worth I’ve been using FreeFileSync for about a year now and I really like it. I’ve found it easy to set up and reliable.
