    Remove Folders Photos app Windows 10


    I follow the instructions at

    Add and Remove Folders in Photos app in Windows 10

    to stop Photos from adding folders and therefore images to its catalog.

    Periodically (maybe after an update?) I find that MS has added back in one or more folders. Today it is my OneDrive\Pictures folder.

    I already have Adobe's Lightroom cataloging every photo on my laptop, and I do not need or want another catalog (as I have 10's of thousands of images, and my laptop does not have masses of memory as standard). As a result, the last thing I want is another program duplicating that effort.

    Is there a way to permanently stop Photos from adding folders?

    As for permanent, probably not. The Windows Version twice-yearly Upgrades tend to replace any "customizations" with its defaults, sometimes a Build will. To that end I keep copies of things I like such as Registry modifications and older programs/apps that will still run but are no longer included.
