    Program opening problem

I am a complete novice with computers and have a great difficulty in opening programs! I download the program , go through the exe and get the program into the computer but each time I try to open it I seem to get the exe again and a window saying " do you wish to remove the program before loading new?" !!! Any suggestions as to what I am doing incorrectly?

    Thank you

Normally, after a program is installed on your system, you double-click on a shortcut to the program on your Desktop to start it, or click on its entry in the Start menu.

Are you having problems doing it that way?

It sounds like that after you have downloaded and installed the file, instead of clicking on the shortcut that it creates to open the program, you are clicking the program .exe file again. What this does is, it realises that the program is already installed and thinks that you want to uninstall it, therefore giving you the built-in uninstall option. Not ALL programs however have this built-in uninstall option by the way!

If you download the programs to the desktop and install them from there, what you can do, once the program is installed, is to move the program .exe file to another location on your HDD. You could setup a folder named My Downloads for example and move them to there.

    I hope this helps!
