Well do you have any other media players installed?
If you used the installed version of MPC-BE try unistalling using this:
HiBit Uninstaller
Then reboot and reinstall MPC-BE
If using Macrium - image current system first. Once you restore, mount the current backup that you made and copy missing personal files from personal directories from it into your restored windows using this:
TSR Copy Changed Files Software - Free software for logging changed and modified files.
Are you sure that the backup does not have the same problem?
I'm 99% sure. Hopefully that 1% will not be the cause of trouble!

I did an image restore, but I didn't see any difference. Maybe the problem is hidden in the 1% that I mentioned. I'll give up and use another media player instead. Probably VLC. The only thing that I'll really miss with MPC-BE is the preview icon when using the progress bar (like YouTube).
I used it for years too. Until I saw the light.
I mean it's great for it's "plays everything" ability but playback quality is frankly quite poor when compared to a few other players that I've used.
Biased opinion here:
How to Use madVR with VLC
I installed Potplayer and I'll use it as an alternative to VLC. As for madVR I can never understand how to use it. I tried in the past to use it, but I never got to see where the the settings are for this program. I cannot understand if I have to run an executable or I have to see the settings in my media player.
