Application crash - Brother iPrint & Scan

Just bought and installed a new Brother multi-function printer to replace a broken Canon printer. Installed the full and updated package from their website and the printer is working fine. The scanning function works as well.

But when I install the bundled software "Brother iPrint & Scan", which is a software package that gives you more control of the scanning process, this application will not start. The process just terminates, and I find the following in Event Viewer:

    Event 1026, .NET Runtime

    Application: Brother iPrint&Scan.exe

Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

Brother's tech support is useless and all they can suggest is to reinstall Windows 10, which I'm not gonna do.

Does anyone have any suggestion re what could be wrong and how to solve this?

    Welcome to TenForums @chjohans

Wow. Saw your previous posting from five months ago on other boards.

When you install the app do you get any message that you must install .net frameworks in Windows?

What version of Windows 10 are you running? Right click start, click run, type winver, enter.

It appears from Brothers own site that this product is to allow you to scan and print from phones.

    What is Brother iPrint&Scan?

Is this the functionality you were looking to add?

Thanks for your response! Yes I did post this same question on a Microsoft board a few weeks ago but got no response whatsoever.

I'm fully up to date, Windows 10 1909 build 18636.657 with all updates released through Windows Update.Everything else works perfectly, it's just this one application that so annoyingly crashes.

"iprint&scan" is Brother's utility to makes scanning documents and pictures a whole lot easier. It works just fine on my other computers, but I need it on my main computer and it simply won't work. They all have the same OS version and updates, but my main computer as a lot more software installed. I'm beginning to think something else that is installed is breaking this, but I have hoped that someone would be able to pinpoint what might be wrong based on the error message above.

Brother tech support has been pretty much useless, all they can advise me is to re-install the application (which I have tried numerous times of course) or to reinstall Windows if everything else fails. I'm not about to do the latter as long as everything else works just fine and I don't really need the 2-3 days downtime needed to reinstall everything.

Thanks to all that have tried to help with this. Ive decided to just give up on "iPrint&Scan", partially because I've used too much time on trying to fix this already and partially because I decided to just use NAPS2 (not Another PDF Scanner 2) instead: NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2) download | SourceForge.net

I found this to be an excellent piece of software for scanning both documents and pictures, and it doesn't hurt that it's free (Donations are encouraged), open source and licensed under GNU.

I have exactly the same problem as you. No help from Brother.

I have been using the ControlCenter4 Link given in the Scan section of the Brother Utilities which is bundeled in with the Brother Driver download file: Y17A_C4_UWL_PP-inst-B2.EXE

Thanks, yes I'm aware of that option. But it does not to multi-page PDF scan into the same document, do I had to scan each file individually and then combine them. It was time-consuming when doing a lot of scanning.

Suggest you have a look at NAPS2, it works very well. :)
