Finally Dumping CCleaner Looking For Alternatives

Upon shut down almost without fail I delete all cookies and history from Chrome (even though I think I have that checked on auto) then run quick scan with Bitdefender then scan with Malwarebytes Free and then Malwarebytes ad scan and then CCleaner. CCleaner always finds more cookies that I select to delete. I know that CCleaner became problematic some years back and it was suggested to switch to an older version which I did but CCleaner still shows up in task manager as running even when I have not started it and I can not find a way to switch it to only manual in services. There is no shortage of GOOGLE suggestions for alternatives but I am wondering what those of you who have dumped CCleaner now use in its stead. TIA.

Not as a registry tool but as a cleaner might I suggest Wise Disk Cleaner "Free".

I would carefully review what it is going to clean once installed, plenty of options.

Wise Disk Cleaner - Free Disk Cleanup and Defrag Tool

I use the product, no issues.

URL? Uncleaned doesn't work too well as a search term.

I've been using HDCleaner for some time. It does offer monitoring if you need it. Personally I don't use monitoring:

    Check video here:

Also check Cccleaner vs HDCleaner video here:

    EDIT:

If you want to test it there is a portable version available. Avoid the registry cleaner though.

    Information HDCleaner

Portable version is found under downloads tab.

    Hi there

    @phaedruspress

I don't like any of these 3rd party type of things messing with registry.

If you've got stuff that won't uninstall properly via the standard Windows method then it's time IMHO either for a Windows CLEAN install or restore from a backup image taken without all the "oprphaned" partially uninstalled products.

These days with cheap fast SSD's and Freee backup software why not always take an image backup before installing anything from possible problem applications / websites. You probably with a decnt system / SSD and average windows install image the whole OS in around 10 - 15 mins !!!! (restore would be about the same time too).

    Cheers

I use Wise Disk Cleaner with no problems to augment the built in Disk Cleaner. CCleaner is useful for deleting unneeded restore points and checking for software updates.

Another vote for Wise Disk Cleaner. I have dumped CCleaner in my new build too.
