Win 10 Tablet with external Drive

I have a Win 10 tablet with a drive that's near full just with windows.

Q: Can I install software onto an external drive that will then plug into the tablet via usb and will I be able to run it? Will may be registry problems here.

Suggest you look into portable apps ..some searches will produce useful finds.
There are ready-made packages of these. E.g.
PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable, and cloud drives

On my Nextbook hybrid tablet I use windows10's Settings/ Apps to move some apps and storage. to a
64 gig SD card. Maps, a few programs etc. Mostly data though.
After shutting it down, I then copy the contents of the sd to zip file on another pc.
That way I have a back up of the sd in case it fails.

Only Portable versions of apps will work that way. What is the mfg and model of the tablet?

You'd have to plug the USB into the device, then install the software to that USB.

If you remove the tablet from the keyboard, which I assume the USB is plugged into, or, if for some reason the drive letter of the USB changes, the install will become corrupt.

Other than that, most standard install software should work.

sorry I'm late. The tablet is a Acer Aspire SW5-014win 10x64 with keyboard - 2gb ram. But the drive is big enough for windows but not big enough to put a lot of software on.
