    How to disable the hotkey for the snipping tool (Win + Shift + S)?

    Hi, I would like to know how to disable the hotkey for the snipping tool, which is performed by pressing the windows key + Shift + S.

    Note: I'm not looking to disable all hotkeys, but only the one I mentioned.

    Here you go:

    After double clicking on the reg file to merge it with your registry, reboot your computer. That hotkey should now be disabled.

    Disable Snipping Tool Hotkey.reg

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
    "DisabledHotkeys"="S"

    Anyway to make the clips go other than onenote? I have one note removed from my machine, I want to see if I can change the setting before I delete the function.

    Thank you very much! :) Out of curiosity, do you mind telling me how you made that registry key/what command does it have?

    I just Googled your question, saw the answer on how to create the key, then exported the key, then edited the reg key and removed all other values BUT the one you asked for then I uploaded the reg key for you

    Could anyone help with a reg file that re-enables the hotkey after running the above reg file?

    Hello rkm82, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    The .reg file below will undo and enable the hotkey.

    Enable_Snipping_Tool_hotkey.reg

    (Contents of .reg file for reference.)

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
    "DisabledHotkeys"=-

    Many Tools

    Strictly speaking, this is disabling/enabling the hotkey combination for the Win10 Snip & Sketch feature is it not?

    The old Snipping Tool was superseded by the rather nice Snip tool (from Microsoft's backroom Garage) that was then replaced by Snip & Sketch, I believe.
    I still like the experimental Snip tool because it auto-saved multiple snips in its own library ..but it's now gone.
    As far as I can tell, Snip & Sketch handles one snip at a time. If you take another without saving, the first one's lost.

    I had a quick look inside your file, Spartan, and I saw a lot of entries that don't look as though they relate to Snip & Sketch/Snipping Tool.
    Can you or someone who's used the reg file confirm please that it disables snipping only?
    Thanks.

    Freddy,

    You were very wise to check. I have examined the .reg file and have found that it contains 4 alterations to standard file explorer settings as well as the entry that [it is claimed] changes the hotkey setting.

    I suggest you don't use it until Spartan has explained these entries.

    S&S can save several, Windows key + V will show them. My main computer is showing 10 available for pasting, have none for this Notebook since booting up.
