"Open With" then "Use by Default" Doesn't work anymore?

So maybe i stopped updating windows when i Heard that MS was Deleting our files.

Then some time later i found out that "Use By Default" function isn't setting the Application to use for opening a certain file.

    Like this :

"Open With" then "Use by Default" Doesn't work anymore?-2018-11-04_222153.jpg

So i thought something probably went wrong after the update, but If i install a program which modifies the "Open with by Default" entry for the known file types then it works. But it isn't working with Windows.

    Please help me fix this.

If you are using build 1803, then there is a bug of this kind reported as related to one specific windows update.

Some have found uninstalling that restores this function.

Discussed at some length in forum.

As a workaround, you could use FileTypesMan to edit what app opens for each file type instead of using the "user choice" override.

Thanks for linking me that Application!
I used the RegEdit to find the specific extension and fixed it!

    Hope Microsoft soon fixes this.

'that' refers to 'one specific windows update'

Read the threads I've linked- it's there: see thet title of the last one. That's the one. That may not be the only cause, though,

If you uninstall the update you would then need to 'hide' it (stop it reinstalling). Tutorial available, or use Windows Update Minitool (free).
