Try to reset PDF's association. Download pdf.reg and apply.

Thank you Tairiku, i will need time and practice to follow option 2.
Option 1 is easy enough but nothing has changed , maybe i should try a re start. ?

You could also check the file type association. Select the "Choose default apps by file type" from the "Default Apps" menu.

As you mention downloading, if, for example you expect to open a pdf file from the web using a particular browser, whether that occurs or not depends on whether you have a related browser add-on installed or not.

I.e. is your browser redirecting your pdf to Notepad, rather than opening the pdf as you wish.

That is not a matter of associations, and has been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

    Association issues and setting defaults

If you are using build 1803, you could be struggling with a bug discussed in this forum, which seems typified by txt type files/ notepad-like progam association problems. See references in my post #2 here:

    I second this.

Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps. Scroll down and press Choose default apps by file type.
Fix all the ones that are messing up. For example, scroll down to .pdf, and press the selection to its right and correct that information.
