Does any new router support SMB 2 or 3?
Yes! I remember now. Samba and SMB1. Both stink, IMHO.
Samba 4.19.3 is the latest. I wonder if it would work with SMB-1.
Maybe Netgear would know? I'll look into the firmware with them.
No...
Hmm...
The drive is actually NTFS when I checked. Also, it is not detected when using the Net Use command in and elevated command prompt. Odd.
When I connect the drive to the computer via USB,...
No other way? I may have to call them. 2GB HDD.
What are the USB drive requirements for ReadySHARE on my NETGEAR router? - NETGEAR Support
Edit - Let me check again and I will report back....
Ah. It's Fat32. Silly router firmware won't support NTFS. Netgaer RAXE500.
It's a mapped external drive. Do I have to use the full path?
attrib +s +h "Z:\System Volume Information"
So that wont work for the SVI Folder.
Right.
The device is hanging off a router via USB.
I'm curious as to why the Hide option doesn't work in Properties? Can't understand that. Bug?
Thanks.
:p
Greetings, folks -
Simply put, why can't I hide the "System Volume Information" folder on an External HDD?
I select hide from the Properties but nothing happens.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi all -
I tried WC on 3 computers, noting that it said "preview."
It really doesn't work/interact at all.
So slow and buggy.
Am I missing something?

Hi everyone -
Many thanks for all the wishes!

Prior to MR 8.1 it would take 45 minutes.
They cut the time by over 50%.
When I build my new PCIe 4.0 system, I guess that it will probably be 5+ minutes, lol.
:nerd:
Interesting.
I have seen the new Fold and Flip and they are truly breathtaking - and so is the price.
Samsung appears to have nailed it, at least from a screen point-of-view.
:-)
Hi all -
A little rant...
I just super-like Macrium Reflect 8.1. Simple as that.
Being able to do a full single drive backup over 500 GB with verification in just over 21 minutes flat is...
Really?
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll give Wiztree a go.

Here is a nice, free program that will give you a (color) graphical look at things as well as numeric.
Download WinDirStat - Windows Directory Statistics
Enjoy.

Something was going on...
I just set the default file app attributes to WinRar instead of .ZIP and all is well now.
Cheers.

Hi friends -
I noticed that a group of ordinary data folders on each of my external drives, show as Compressed (Zipped) Folders.
There is no box in properties to uncheck. 40 Folders on each drive...

Yep. Just a front end.

Lol.
Is it even worth the effort?

Ah, yes...

Hi all -
Been away for awhile, hope you all missed me. ;)
I was using Nimbus Screenshot extension for Firefox which no longer works for some reason. Tried reinstalling with negative results....

You can make some nice clocks out of them.
There's a ton of resources on the internet to help you.

I believe that I solved it.
Ran a CHKSK with the appropriate switches. Found some filesystem errors.
Ran it once more until clean, then rebooted.
All is well now.

Nah.
