Windows 10 DISM tool - unable to find Source File
Hello everyone,
I've been having a terrible time trying to diagnose and fix corrupted system files. I have recently updated to windows 10 during the free upgrade process. I was running Windows 7 Pro before I updated.
I have tried sfc /scannow command multiple times, in safe mode and in normal operation.
Every time I get this message:
"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios."
So researching online, I found that using the DISM tool will fix this issue.
However every time I run the command, I get this:
"Error: 0x800f081f
The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log"
I've even tried mounting the windows 10 iso that I downloaded from the media creation tool and running it again, however I still get the same message to no avail. I've seen other forums with users saying to use the original windows 10 iso and not to use the iso created by the media creation tool. However I can't seem to find this file and am not sure it would work anyways.
I've searched this forum and found multiple threads for this same issue. It turns out people had to d/l another .iso than the one media creation tool made them. However, every download link for those .iso files are now not available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
