"System and Compressed Memory" going to 40% CPU in Win10
Hi,
I know this problem is caused by the latest GeForce driver, I was hoping someone could tell me which version introduced the issue. I have Win10 64-bit on an i5, 16 GB RAM, GTX 570, OS is installed on a SSD. Everything was working fine with Win10, games, apps, ran smoothly and was fast. I have been playing Far Cry 3 and getting 60 FPS. Today I decided to upgrade to the latest Nvidia drivers to see if I could squeeze out a few more FPS (just for fun, didn't really need them). Bad idea. As soon as I installed the Mar 28 2016 GeForce drivers, FC3 lagged like crazy. FPS would jump from 2 to 184 back to 2. The game was super-laggy, unplayable. I spent all day googling, changing options, rebooting, etc... Nothing. Every time I tried to play FC3, I couldn't even launch my previous game it was so laggy. I noticed "System and Compressed Memory" was eating up at least 40% CPU and I knew that was new. That was taking even more than FC3.
So finally I uninstalled the latest Nvidia drivers, which means my system went back to the default Win10 drivers. That worked, system was back to running smoothly. FC3 was back to a constant 60 FPS. I found a forum post which indicated another poster thought it started when Nvidia came out with "Tomb Raider-ready" drivers in Nov 2015. Does anyone have more information about this issue? I would like to get the GeForce drivers back on my system, or at least the latest ones I can before they introduced this issue.
Thanks,
R.
