Windows 10 Silent Cleanup Scheduled Task triggers

    Hi folks,

Long story short, whenever the Silent Cleanup task ran, it would bcreate a full DISM folder in TEMP that was difficult to removbe. So I disabled the task. Now I wish to use it for a bit, but it fails with the Operator or administrator has refused the request. And I see nothing in the triggers tab. Is there anything in triggers?

    Appreciate someone checking. Thanks.

Are you using diskclean or storage sense which is the new way and you can set that when to run and what it does

    No, there are no triggers.

Here's an unadulterated copy of the task definition that you could import to replace your changed one.
Alternatively, you could use it just to read from whilst checking your own task manually. You can open the task definition, an xml, file in your browser because that will display it a lot more clearly than Notepad does.

I've never seen this task run [because it only runs when the OS drive gets short of space]. What's all this about Dism running as part of this task [I really do not understand how it could]?

Thanks so much Denis. Yes, it does run even when I have 750 GB free space. I know...

Now, I find that even going into settings/system/storage in settings, and just click on Temporary Files and not do anything. This will cause a folder in appdata/local/temp named with numbers and letters. double click it and you will find it is with all the DISM files. Requires ADMIN rights to delete and then again to empty recycle bin.

The Silent Cleanup does the same "some" times.

    Don't ask me why :)

CleanMgr.exe [Disk cleanup] itself creates such a folder and deletes it.
Settings, System, Storage, Temporary files creates such a folder and leaves it there.
    Strange.

NEVER deleted them for me. Would always leave an empty EN-US folder and dism.exe. Would delete the other files. And these would build up over time for me.

    It IS strange, no?

Took me a long time to find the culprit :)

Temp file cleaning does have some notion of which temp files can be deleted now.
Perhaps that unwanted folder will be deleted next month after a new Cleanmgr run?????
Or perhaps even tomorrow after a computer restart?????
    Or perhaps not at all.

I'll take Not at All for $300 :)

Been watching this for almost a year now. I've turned Silent Cleanup off. Disabled it. No more DISM folders unless I use Settings as described above.

In my case, I saw CleanMgr create a similar folder and then delete the folder that it had created.
It was only Settings, System, Storage, Temporary files that created the folder but left it in place afterwards.
Perhaps I'll leave it a year and then see if it is still there.
