Hi, I am trying to fix an error of HP diagnostics not working.
I do not know which section to post it in. I am using windows 10 64 bit. and it is home edition version 21H2.
so i have asked HP support. i do not really think that it is related to HP specifically. Their diagnostics stopped working in windows after the following:
-a microsoft tech set windows update to download optional driver updates and some recent updates for windows 10 (like a net update and other windows 10 update).
-i installed a firewall and antivirus.
i adjusted the firewall, and reset my system, and found that some programs that were not running would run. the firewall seems to stop programs sometimes due to the setting.
However, I also found that there is an error like this:
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation
Something like that, and the event log also shows that HP diagnostics crashes now. There is a reference to some hardware not working suddenly, but i noticed something like reference to some drivers. The only drivers changed were those updated by the tech. I am trying to find out if i can undo that. I just want to change these conflicts without resetting the whole system.
I do not know specifically what drivers were installed, besides it says "HP components" etc. so the event viewer seems to show why programs might not run besides the potential security software. i do not think it is the antivirus software, since the event viewer keeps saying "a device connected" and also references drivers, as well as the error like that link.
it is showing software and hardware conflicts that are new. Please advise if you know how to correct it without reinstalling windows. Thank you.
