Then you might consider disconnecting your internet and working in a Faraday cage....

Such whole disk encryption simply protects your data if your PC is stolen. Once decrypted and on line, your disk is accessible to anyone as any system is.
i'm well aware what and how it protects thank you very much for the offtopic and non relevant reply.

It is open source, reported vulnerabilities are easily replicable and there are many that are not public, but if you are willing to use the encryption software, which provides no protection whatsoever, it is your choice.

no protection??????? those vulnerabilities mean nothing. i already run my pc as admin. i dont use different users as im the admin and i dont need any nonsense like UAC or user levels. i have 1 account and its admin. all programs always run as admin.

and mounting vulnerability means nothing. i dont think you understand anything about how encryption works.

explain to me again, by going OFFTOPIC, how those vulnerabilities would help the attacker to decrypt my data?

thank you so much for more offtopic and non relevant things that have nothing to do with my original reuqest.
WHY are people constantly going offtopic, is it so hard for you to read the title of topic? i dont get how people struggle so hard understanding what topic means. you dont start talking about cars on a weather channel just because you see a car drive past the weather reported who is currently reporting weather. but this is exactly what you're doing. i only mentioned i use truecrypt and you started pickering on me because you dont understand how encryption works.
forget it. i decrypted it and put the same install on other pc. same issue. any more "smart" non relevant ideas?

If you have really sensitive data either store on the cloud or off line. Cloud services are really cheap these days and their security is often at Military grade strength -- I believe the USA's NSA (security agency) has also approved Ms's AZURE Cloud service as sufficiently robust for US Military and other intelligence related material. Google's cloud server is also similarly related.

I really see no reason why disks need to be encrypted on purely domestic computers -- however that's a users individuals choice. I can understand things like USB sticks having encryption - for example if you want to take home patented work material to work on - that's another issue and these days most work places will have VPN's to restrict access to this material anyway.

If you use your own computer as a VPN traffic to and from it is encrypted anyway and modern VPN systems are almost impossible to break into - certainly for a "typical hacker".

However I can't see that using an old program like that would cause a large drop in performance - it's still making calls to the I/O system and doing it's encryption / decryption as it always was so I suspect you've got other bottlenecks somewhere in the system.

Keep your old install, create a new one (easy to do on vhdx physical files so you have BOTH windows installations ), and gradually install one by one the same apps as you've got on the old system and see when the performance starts to drop off -- then problem solved. !!

BTW using vhdx files - it's easy to have several versions of Windows (separate real versions not VM's and works on Windows HOME editions too.

how does any of this help me find out what is causing the long boot time? you have not provided any info that would explain how to analyze the boot issue.
i cant install other version as my drive is fully encrypted. i already stated that. stop pickering on me for having encryption! i dont let anyone sniff around in my files. i take privacy very seriously. governments can make us all slaves and FORCE us to pay taxes or they take it by force, but nobody touches my data! this is why truecrypt was bought off by US government. they couldn't stand the fact that they have no control over it.
same why crypto is being blocked by lot of countries and banks, because governments block everything they have no control over.

but well thanks for the long offtopic post that wont help me solve the issue. really appreciate it.

    @mordax

Here's what I would do, since I'm seriously lazy...

    Disconnect your Windows SSD.
Grab another SSD and do a completely clean install of Windows.
    Note your best boot time.
Start adding software and checking boot time, one item of software at a time, until you find the culprit.

Tips for clean Windows 10 install.

Download and save to USB stick, all your drivers.
Disconnect all other drives. disconnect the internet.
Install Windows 10, skip the product key, and dismiss all offers. Turn off anything the installer suggests.
Install your drivers, starting with the chipset driver, ending with the vid card driver. Reboot when told to.
    Make a backup.
Rehook the internet, and do your Windows Updates (if any).
Note your boot time, and make another backup.

Then start installing your software, one item at a time... checking your boot times.

When all is done... hook up your other drives.

Sometimes during a Windows or drivers or updates install, you might notice a slow down in boot time.
If so... reboots once or twice, see if that clears the temporary slow down in boot time.

Sometime a Windows Update will cause a "temporary" slow reboot. I've found that 1 or 2 more reboots will fix that.

Sometimes... the easiest solution is just to start over.
And make sure you make backups at various stages along the way.

I had to start over once, even though I had top secret plans for a manned mission to Jupiter on my computer.

It happens to all of us sooner or later. The only solution I've ever found is... good backups.
Currently, I have these Win10/11 backups on my storage drive...

Tomorrow is patch Tuesday. When the latest updates are installed... if everything is kosher... I'll make another set of backups.
I try to keep the amount of data on my Windows drive, to a bare minimum. This makes backups and/or restores... fast.

It takes me 2 and a half minutes to make a backup and two minutes to restore.
Approx. 40GB on my Windows drive.

IF the clean install doesn't help, you always have the Windows SSD we disconnected at the start of all this.

agreed -- some people seem to be just too nasty to bother even trying to help any more -- and it's invariably those with usually a tiny nr of posts. Pity we can't get back to the old sysops and BBS days where "Netiquette" was really important and rigoursly enforced by the sysops. !!!
