I have identified avast free antivirus to be the culprit for slow startup. Hence I want to disable this program from startup.
When trying to disable avast from startup, I am getting above mentioned error: Error changing item state: Access is denied
I am running autoruns as administrator.
Any suggestion?
Sw is windows10 20H2.

There are some 25 Avast-related startups of various kinds listed.
I'd suggest that's not the way to try to deal with this.
Consider uninstalling Avast, and using Defender.
If that improves your startup time significantly, consider job done. (See the various threads which discuss at some length whether Defender is 'good enough').

I can read it- you can read it. I can say no more. I am not an Avast designer. Try asking Avast what protection they have put in place.
Want to try a way to make it work, and quite possibly do some real damage? Ok.

I think you got me wrong.
I was just curious to understand why avast could not be disabled whereas other entries had no issue like reflect UI.
Anyway I have already stated my conclusion in the other case, repeated here:
Conclusion:
I have selected below solution:
1. uninstall avast.
2. defender does support scheduling, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...6-0eb330ed5d2d
3. However I have installed malwarebytes instead, esp. to protect against PUPs. Premium version offers scheduling.

Defender will run happily along with Malwarebytes Premium, and that combo gives you very good protection against most everything you don't want. In Malwarebytes' Settings (gear icon), Security tab, toggle OFF "Always register ..." and you're good to go after next boot. If the Defender icon doesn't show up in your systray next to the MBAM bat icon, there's a tutorial here Hide or Show Windows Security Notification Area Icon in Windows 10 that shows you how to have both indicators-of-active-protection showing.
The two running together should not even noticeably slow your boot.
And what the Access is Denied notice means is exactly what Dalchina said above (#4).
