Here's what I can tell you: After using NVCleanstall, there were less NVIDIA processes in my task manager, meaning that I had more CPU and RAM available for other programs. So to answer your question, I can't. I just have to trust that when a setting says that it won't do something, then I have to trust it. If you want complete security, then unplug your internet, build a bunker with a lot of canned bacon, and live privacy free.

I am not John Wayne, just telling you the facts, I couldn't care less if you use whatever you want. You do not have to install everything that is in The Latest NVIDIA driver. If you need GFE to optimize your games you better get a PS4. Have a nice day!

I've just used NVCleanstall and was impressed how easy it was to remove the NV bloatware

I don't know what Firewall you use but if you are brave enough to try Comodo Free Firewall (which needs some attention on setup and configuration) you can leave it on "Custom Ruleset" and it will alert on every connection with options to allow or deny along with "Remember my choice" so you can create rules for safe applications and create blocking rules for the rest.

But it will likely break Bing, Cortana and maybe some other stuff. I used persistent routes on Windows 7 but have not tried on Windows 10.

Anyway if you run a logging tool you can weed out anything that's connecting when you don't want it to.

No. Some telemetry is coded to avoid hosts file and firewall blocks.

These are the hardcoded DNS domain names that will resolve to their proper IP addresses regardless of what you put into the HOSTS file:

Personally I run "Essential Net Tools" with logging enabled to check and I don't see any connection to Microsoft servers except windows update. I don't have any MS office suite installed.

There is no need to leave logging enabled. Just enable during the period that you want to run checks.
