    Shutdowns on system

Morning, hope all are well today.

I had a shutdown on my system couple weeks ago. Stats below. When booting it back up I had to go in and reset my bios. Since then I have not been able to get it right. At the moment it is working ok but I expect another shut down. So I am looking for some help because maybe I am missing something or someone will spot something I have not seen.

There is a short story behind this. I built it several years back and it has been a nice little gem. This is really the only time I have had an issue. I bought it through New Egg. It was a package deal Motherboard + Ram + processor. I have done overclocking before but do not claim to be a pro. I had planned on overclocking this just a touch but since it was going to be a home machine, a little would be fine. After running it seems like a couple of months it started doing this shut down thing. I worked with it a bit but I decided to call New Egg and get some direction. Ended up it was suggested by New Egg that I needed to call the board manufacturer and see what they could do. I attempted to send it back but New Egg said after 30 days if a part failed I would need to call the manufacturer of that part and give them a chance and if nothing was able to be fixed they would provide me with a return number and I could return it.

Well I talked to several people who had me do different things over, I guess another couple of months. Finally I got this one guy who knew his stuff. He looked at my error files and my CPUZ info. He then said, Hey I bet it is your memory. Had me down clock my memory by one step. It never shut down again till now. I did overclock the processor as I remember just one maybe two steps to compensate for downclocking the ram.

Now it is acting like I said above. So I was wondering if someone could look at the info below and maybe suggest something. Memtest showed no issues as long as the system would stay up. I did test the memory in another system here I built and it said it was fine. I used Hot CPU Tester, no issues there. Used Utra-X products to test the board and it didn't show anything. I pulled the board and did a thorough visual and everything look good use a magnifier. I check everything visually. Put it back together the same issue.

At this point I am thinking it is in the settings. But to the best of my memory I am using the same settings as before except I don't have the processor overclocked. So what gives? Oh, tried another psu just in case. It did the same thing.

Please specify how much is the overclock on each device (Base clock, CPU, Memory etc)
What are the max CPU working temperatures?
From Fx-4350 specs I can see that it has a TDP / TDP of 125W and a max temperature of 61ºC.
Do you have a good CPU heat sink?
Do you have a temperature monitor?
Do you have a MB speaker and is BIOS set to alert when CPU temperatures reaches 60ºC?

My suggestion is to disable all overclock to see if it works without issues.

Hasn't been overclocked since the first shut down, and the thing is that this has always run what I think is hot. But it has not shut down the whole time. I have only the stock fan. I have been meaning to get a stronger one. That one thing that always get put behind other things.Shutdowns on system-untitled.jpgIt is set to alert me. I don't monitor the temp regular. My bad. I had this on my system but have not used it as I should. Everything else, no.

Overclock brings together over voltage that brings over temperatures.
You did not answered what was overclock and how deep it was.

    My suggestion is:
    - See if you have the latest (Non Beta) BIOS.
    - Download, extract (I have mine extracted to C:\Program Files (x86)\HardwareMonitor) and run Open Hardware Monitor. Set it to run on windows start. You can configure to show on gadget and on tray (see mine as an example).

It will record the min and Max temperatutes (and many other parameters). Very good.

I wanted to come back and again thank you all for your input. I think I have found what the issue is or was. Sometimes you can panic and the simple stuff slips through your fingers. I put a fan in the back of the pc to blow air out. I also checked the grease on the cpu and heatsink. It was pretty crusty.

I replaced the grease. Once everything was set up and I turned it on. It instantly thanked me. I have been stepping up the load now for 24hrs. No shut downs. Right now it has been running hard for 18 hours and doing fine. No overclocking just putting a load on it.

    Thank You!
