After Macrium restore, Computer stuck updating system

I got into trouble trying to figure out that "create an association in default programs." Whatever I did, the machine kept restarting so I just decided to restore from the morning's fresh image.

Now it's stuck. I've restored from Macrium quite a few times without incident. So... anyone know about this? Should I just kill it and take my chances?

PS: This is my Acer laptop, not the HP desktop.

    Hi

I don't think there is a good answer. I would kill it. If it comes up like this again kill it again.

Then I would try to raise the Advance Startup Options.

To do this power on, see the dots hold the power key until it shuts off.

Power on again, see the dots hold the power key until it is off.

Power on again and let it start. It should go to Advance and it may even, on its own, remove the last update.

If not you follow this tutorial you will see how to get to remove last update. Basically trouble shoot > Uninstall last update.

If this fails and as you are a macrium user I might consider going back one additional backup. Be sure to restore all partitions unless one is a data partition.

Once running you can browse the most recent backup and pickoff any data files you need, assuming your Image is System/data.

Thanks. I killed it and restarted it a few times and ran sfc /scannow a few times. It seems to be right and back to the last backup because Macrium wanted to install a patch again. So I think all is well but I'll keep this information for later. Thanks again. Oh, one more thing. What tutorial are you referring to?

I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Bathurst could do with a little maintenance, that or drive a tank. Lots of construction with lane closures.
