Repairing disk errors without an operating system

I have no operating system because I have completely erased my hard disk.

I would like now to check the hard disk for errors. Is there bootable software that can check for errors and repair them?

    Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a bootable Windows Windows 10 install usb, then you can boot it to a Command Prompt and use the normal tools. See Option Five here....

If there is an existing partition you can use chkdsk /f /b which will re-evaluate bad clusters and fix problems. NB: checking for bad clusters can take a long time, many hours on a large drive.

If there are no partitions, you can use DISKPART to create one, then run chkdsk.

    This should solve your issues:

You should keep at least two copies of this around. Whenever a machine goes bad, you'll have all the tools you need to fix it on one USB drive, or a CD.
