Registry Cleaners actually slow down computer.
I use to run a registry cleaner called "Wise Registry Cleaner" "Auslogics Registry Cleaner" and well it claimed it speeds up your computer. After running it the registry cleaner and "optimizing" the recommended settings I was wondering why I was losing disk space and every now and then I would get explorer freezes or crashes (desktop goes blank then sometimes restarts).
Seems like after removing that junk and doing a inplace upgrade my W10Pro is running very stable. My disk space no longer fluctuates and I no longer get explorer freezes or crashes.

Do not install any registry cleaners. It's just marketing and data mining. You get no benefit from it.

Registry cleaners can do more harm than good (as you've found to your cost). There's no evidence a 'clean' registry makes a machine run any faster while in use.
About all that can be said would be that the registry (being slightly smaller) will load fractionally faster at start up. I doubt you'd be able to notice that difference though.
Avoid, they are 'Snake Oil'.

I used to use one religiously on my old XP PC (before I knew any better) as it was a bit slow, and eventually it stopped booting.
I can't prove it was the registry cleaner that caused it, but with the benefit of hindsight and accumulated knowledge, it's top of my hit list. I've never used one since.

The benefits of registry cleaners are primarily found in the ads for these products. In the real world the benefits remain as elusive as ever. But the dangers are well known. The problem is that in the majority of cases it is almost impossible to be 100% certain that a specific registry entry is in error or not needed. So a registry cleaner must make many guesses. Most are correct, but some are not. Those can have serious consequences.
Registry cleaners do have some use in the hands of an expert to resolve a specific problem. But unfortunately they are primarily used by novices who have only a hazy understanding of what the registry is. That is a dangerous combination.

Ya'll are just paranoid. . lol I've used cCleaner's registry cleaner for years. Never once have I had a problem. at all.....It deletes empty and no longer used registry entries. I've confirmed this by going to check registry entries that it has shown and they are gone.

There's a reason CCleaner asks if you'd like to backup the registry before proceeding...

CCleaner's registry option is said to be one of the less aggressive registry cleaners. When pressed, I've used it on infected PCs as a final step after disinfecting them.
But as I said earlier, there's no published evidence I can find that 'cleaning' the registry on a perfectly good system has any effect on performance, unused entries just get ignored. As such, why take the risk?

I forget to say yes I only use CCleaner registry cleaner. However I have to exclude all the media extensions as it unregistered them from Aimp Media Player but otherwise I don't have any issues.
Auslogics Clams
Did you know?
One of the biggest culprits behind registry corruption is software uninstalled incorrectly. It may not be any of your fault, since oftentimes the reason is poorly written software code that does not ensure clean uninstalls. Auslogics Registry Cleaner is the best tool to clean out registry keys left by uninstalled applications.
While Wise Registry Cleaner Clams
Fix Registry Problems and Boost Your PC Performance
The registry keeps growing when you use Windows, so does the obsolete items in the registry, which would eventually lead to performance degradation and even system crash. Wise Registry Cleaner scans the Windows registry and finds errors & residual items in the registry and then cleans or defrags them. By fixing these residual and corrupted items in Windows registry, your system will run faster and more stable
Yet after I run them I explorer starts to have issues.
Also I am glad that an in-place upgrade fixes these issues.

I guess all this includes programs like Rivo Uninstaller and its Hunter function that gives you the choice to delete registry "leftovers" (in various options of aggression)?
