Your board supports a max density of 4gig modules (sticks) for a total of 24gig max (6 x 4gig). That is each module can not be any denser (larger) than 4gig. So that 8gig stick you're thinking of won't work.
    Dang!

Yeah, I'll just wait until the sticks resolve, someone may have a great idea in the mean time.

    I did find this triple channel kit for you from Newegg - CORSAIR Vengeance 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ12GX3M3A1600C9. They should work.
oooo, thank you for the recommendation! But they are 1600mhz, my mother goes into OC territory so i reckon it just creates for variables for memory not to work, i'm thinking of anything at or under 1333mhz.

1600MHz worked for me on my X-58 Gigabyte board, outside of issues, they should work on you Asus board. Besides you're the one telling us you wanted 1600MHz....

    now you don't???

And you're getting caught up in the overclock thing. Yes, XMP boosts RAM speeds, but the modules are specifically designed and "guaranteed" for that boost. And all you have to do is flip a single switch in the BIOS - enable XMP.

Again, I thought that's what you wanted, and thus the RAM recommendation

No no no no, you misunderstood, I bought the 1600mhz sticks thinking it would work all dandy, like in my mind, 1066mhz, 1333mhz, 1600mhz, should all work the same, I wasn't fussed, long as it worked, but little did I know, above 1600mhz my motherboard has some weird fetish and needs to be overclocked or something.

Honestly I'm so over it, I just want ram that works at this point, the speed won't matter anyways, it will just get downclocked to 1066mhz cos my cpu is locked.

Yes if they worked, but they didn't remember?

The overclocking question was addressed (XMP). There is suspicion those RAM modules you bought are bad. Your motherboard supports XMP as well as 1600MHz triple channel configuration. Not sure what else needs to be said.

    Peace.

    @Vellaura,

I seem to remember in my past when I was building a new system that I tried Kingston Value Ram once and had the exact same experience as you, it just plain didn't work in my motherboard. I would look at returning the Kingston Value Ram and getting 3 individual sticks of these:
    A-Tech 4GB DDR3 1600MHz DIMM PC3-12800 UDIMM Non-ECC CL11 240-Pin Desktop Computer RAM Memory Upgrade Module

Total cost $45.75. I've had good luck with A-Tech memory in the past.

I posted a triple channel kit that should work on the OP's board (Post #60). You can see from the reviews they support the X-58 chipset (which is what the OP has). I also ran Corsairs on my X-58 without issue.

    That's good! And it's only $27 more!

And, as a note, the X58 chipset does not have a memory controller. The memory controller is embedded on the processor, not in the chipset, so the memory has to be compatible with the processor, not the chipset.

Well aware of that - used to overclock

I think so to, like an idiot I think I ended up going with the worst possible option, for some reason I thought it'd be ezpz and I think I was worried ddr3 ram would run out but as I've seen there are still pleeeenty in the market.

I would look at returning the Kingston Value Ram and getting 3 individual sticks of these:

Sorry if this has been answered already but how can I be sure its compatible with my processor again? Like what figure or function demonstrates that.

Thanks again for the continued support. I'm hoping memory shouldn't be this hard to get working on my Mobo and that I somehow managed to buy dog!@#$ memory.

Good news! managed to get a refund, now trying to be extra extra careful before I buy new ram. I'm really looking into the G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB 240-Pin SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory - Newegg.com

They came out in 2009 i think which is a year before my mobo came out.

    Also found these!

    Kingston 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model KVR1333D3N9/4G - Newegg.com

4 gig version of the current one im using! Do i play it safe and go for these? exact same model only difference is that its 4 gigs and one is 256m and other is 512m, does that make a difference?
