The problem with that game could be the following:
    1. If it used Microsoft DXR, then that code is far from complete.
    2. The neural net has most likely not been trained properly yet.
    3. No DLSS available, which forces the devs to lower the average amount of rays per screen pixel in order to calculate all pixels in time.
    4. The engine has still code residues of old type of rendering techniques even when RT was enabled.
    5. They had a lot of debugging features enabled.
    6. Ray tracing requires 360degree 3d space calculations and if that engine is slow in lets say 90degrees calculations then it becomes really slow when the whole world has to be calculated.

All this could contribute to both visual quality and performance.
Totally agree they were working on this game way before we even heard of this new tech and Developers aren't racing to change engines either if it isn't broke don't fix it comes to mind that's laziness

Yep, it requires a lot of work to rewrite the new code, but once it's done, it simply "just works" as nVidia says.

I would buy 2 x RTX 2080Ti, but I can't currently even afford a decent computer that makes any sense to build around them.

I've been studying the differences between older mobile nVidia GPUs and a few years old Intel integrated GPUs.

I'm quite impressed how far Intel has come. On Intel HD 515, we get about +40% performance in a neat passive cooled 15W package compared to GT 540M and this is with 1/4 the amount of shader cores, lower clocks and using only DDR3 memory.

I'm quite confident that Intel has all knowledge it requires to create a really competitive discrete GPU in 2020. It might even blow all the competition out of the water. At least I would not be surprised if this happened.

I'm surprised Intel dodn't get into dedicated GPUs long time ago. Ever since GPU market got down to only 2 manufacturers (that matter). competition between AMD and Nvidia looks more like secret cooperation than competition.
