Yep, it requires a lot of work to rewrite the new code, but once it's done, it simply "just works" as nVidia says.
I've been studying the differences between older mobile nVidia GPUs and a few years old Intel integrated GPUs.
I'm quite impressed how far Intel has come. On Intel HD 515, we get about +40% performance in a neat passive cooled 15W package compared to GT 540M and this is with 1/4 the amount of shader cores, lower clocks and using only DDR3 memory.
I'm quite confident that Intel has all knowledge it requires to create a really competitive discrete GPU in 2020. It might even blow all the competition out of the water. At least I would not be surprised if this happened.
