Laptop connects to Internet but not to local network
I've been using an HP laptop on wifi to access a hard drive attached to my router. This has been working well for the past couple of years. Last week I took the laptop when I went on vacation. When I got home it said it was unable to reconnect to the drive on the router. As far as I know I had not changed any settings on either the laptop or my home network. It connects to the internet without a problem. A desktop on the same network connects to the router drive without a hitch, so the problem isn't in the router or the drive. The network is set up as private and discovery is turned on.
When I try to map a network drive the router doesn't show up on the list of folders; the only thing that shows up is the laptop.
I tried pinging the router and discovered I can't ping anything, either local or internet, unless I disable the Windows Firewall. If the firewall is on the ping returns "general failure". But turning off the firewall doesn't allow it to find any other devices.
The system is an HP 15-cs2073cl running Win10 21H2.
Thanks.
