Metered connection

I saw somewhere that enabling metered connection(s) can help with download and browsing speeds

and what's with this complication?

Hello @kitpzyxmsir,

For what it is worth, I disabled/turned off Metered Connection straight after a clean install and it has had ZERO impact on downloads or browsing speeds.

Turn metered connection off unless you need a metered connection, metered connections are not fast not sure where you read that they are actually the opposite sometimes because some apps will work slower if they are on metered connections.

The keyboard error should go away when you do this.

When you have a metered connection, that is, you pay by Megabyte you download or upload, normally a connection using cell phones internet, you don't want Windows to download huge files (like an upgrade file that is multi Gigabyte).
When "Metered connection" is set, windows won't download updates / upgrades.
"Metered connection" don't improve download speeds.

Doing this neither helps nor hinders your connection speed. It is entirely irrelevant.

also having "metered connections" on also pauses app updates from microsoft store as noted here

Apps downloading from the Windows Store might be paused.
