    VPN Issue

sorry if wrong forum, not sure where this goes ...

I recently installed a vpn app. I intentionally run this independently. Shortly after, at the top of the available network list a VPN item appeared. I traced it to Settings > Network & Internet > VPN. So I selected it and cliked 'Remove' and this action removed 'VPN' from the list. It then showed a notice that I would have to set it up again. However, it re-appears now & then in the network list.

Short of uninstalling the vpn app how can I force Windows to stop putting it there?

    -thx

Uninstall the app and do a system restore.

Thx - re-visit the op. uninstalling the app is mentioned.

however, per your advice I did the uninstall and restore. however, i re-installed the app after post restore boot followed with post- vpn app install restart. - no joy.

fwiw I am now sure this happens at pc power-up. Hope this info helps.

So why did you reinstall the app if you are trying to troubleshoot the problem?

I did as you advised. If the vpn app is not installed the problem is resolved. However, I want the vpn app. I must be confusing you somehow. sorry.

I'm guessing that the VPN adds it's own network adapter and needs it to work. Either that or it installed a TAP adapter which shows up in the list. If that's the case you should not remove it.

What do you use a VPN for?

    Which VPN is it?

    thx all for your replies.

My apologies for not going to the vpn support site first regarding this issue. Being new to the vpn world I had many newbie-type issues and their team was very responsive and competent with fast resolutions. Seeing the vpn recently begin to appear on my available networks list threw me off and I immediately assumed it was the OS somehow. I will now contact the support team and return here to update the topic.

    -thx again.
