    I would try the following:
    1) download "Advanced IP Scanner Portable" and do a network scan. Try to identify your devices on the network and possible unknown devices.
    2) Check if there are some vulnerabilities regarding your router: GRC | ShieldsUP! — Internet Vulnerability Profiling
    3) do a proper virus scan, for instance with Malware Byte free.
    4) Check if you have given a proper user name to login into your router (so not the standard name such as admin).

    FYI:

CrowdInspect: Free Host-Based Process Inspection - CrowdStrike

    Details:

Free Community Tool: CrowdInspect - crowdstrike.com

Look for established connections. Anything dodgy should be obvious.

Also consider using a firewall that alerts on connections.

mac whitelisting is about as pointless as hiding the ssid tho
No its not it has its place in any security layer. We are talking about a system here that is supposed to be layered again this is a precaution that is going to stop MOST people in their tracks which is what its supposed to do and its better to have enabled than not.

if some guy is sitting out the front in his car with an antenna then you have bigger problems otherwise mac address filtering servers its purpose and you should have it enabled.

The lair pun intended is the router and Max Smart is the Mac Address whitelisted Device he is allowed to walk through the layers because he is whitelisted if people know their way past this good for them otherwise good for you right. Also Get Smart i mean any good network has multiple DMZ zones and firewalls to get through also saying something stupid like mac address filters are dumb is dumb in itself and a misnomer..
I am not talking about these dinky third party firewalls that people use inside their LAN either and they think they are adding extra security than the already built in one lol because they aren't.

The phone booth at the end is his LAN btw.

I mean at the end of the day turn off wifi all together and remover your antennas and incase your router inside a faraday box if you really care about attacks.
Otherwise we are talking about a layered system that should be set as so if people don't bother to layer it that then that is their potential problem,
its only as strong as they make it which for many people is not strong at all because they don't even know like mom and pop down the road for example or grandma two houses down who just uses a computer but doesn't know anything about it etc.

Try using netcut for windows. The free version should suffice. It'll let you know who is using your wifi network at the same time as you. It uses an ARP Spoofing attack to allow you to disconnect other devices, whilst also giving you ARP Spoofing protection, to prevent others from disconnecting you.
