What is a good free, trustworthy alternative to TeamViewer / LogMeIn?

    Hello

What is a good free alternative to TeamViewer or LogMeIn, that we can trust?

    Background
I like to occasionally access my PC from my laptop when I am away from home. For many years I have used TeamViewer, but they have suddenly decided - incorrectly - that I am using it "for business" and have kicked me out.

    Thanks

    J

    Anydesk is a good tool.

I use Splashtop but there is a nominal fee each year for use over internet.

I had this issue a few yrs back. They track your connection ip addresses so if you have more than a few locations, they will think you're using it for business. In my case, I was supporting a dozen computers all over the USA. Got hold of customer support, explained all that and my ip was in all connections. They changed status back to Free Personal which I still have.
If you are accessing home computer from various locations, that would explain it. Get hold of Customer Support, explain that your home computer ip is always on one end of connection. They are quick to help. Link- Customer Support - TeamViewer

I concur with @mrgeek. I had the same issue with TeamViewer incorrectly identifying my usage as 'commercial'. I emailed TeamViewer support, explained that I was now retired and listed the IPs of my own devices and those of family and friends whom I regularly used TeamViewer with. Within a couple of days my TeamViewer usage was back to 'personal' usage. I found TeamViewer support to be very helpful.

(Whilst I waited, I used AnyDesk instead. My brother and I found that - whilst it worked - it was clunky by comparison and file transfer was far slower.)

    Hope this helps...
