    Accessing network computer

I have a desktop and a laptop, both Windows 10 Home version. I want to access the laptop from the desktop. The laptop shows up in Network in Windows Explorer, but when I try to access, I get msg "you do not have permission to access". I own both devices. How do I fix this?

Type this in a cmd prompt for the Desktop and press <Enter> . . .
    Code:
    ipconfig /all > "%UserProfile%\Desktop\IP_Desktop.txt"
Type this in a cmd prompt for the Laptop and press <Enter> . . .
    Code:
    ipconfig /all > "%UserProfile%\Desktop\IP_Laptop.txt"

Post the results => Upload => How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums.

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks, but did not work.

Thanks for your response. I tried what you said by copying and pasting your coding into the cmd prompt on each device, but the error message did not change. My credential is the same for both devices, and I previously shared the relevant folders on the laptop, but all it would get me is the ability to see the laptop in Windows Explorer, but not access. Is it possible to unhook the laptop and try again?

Have you set up shares on the PC and set it to everyone? To make it simpler you need an account on the PC with same name and password as the pc your connecting from

Thanks, I tried this and got the following error:
"Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again."
This is way above my head. Thanks for looking into this.

I had tried to connect to the laptop computer before, and when it showed up in Windows Explorer, I tried to access it, and got the following message:
"You do not have permission to access \\________. Contact your network administrator to request access."

The laptop is no longer showing up in Windows Explorer on my desktop pc.
