Laptop trying to make network connection with computer

Both have Windows 10 Home Edition 1903.18362.535 64 bit on it.
the printer is HP Officejet 6600
The initial purpose was to share the printer HP Officejet 6600 (usb connected)that is set as shared on the computer and working, on the laptop I get the error : Windows cannot connect to the printer.Check the printer name. If it is a network printer make sure it is turned on and that the printer address is correct.

    I checked all that.
I even tried all the methods mentioned in the tutorial, no one worked.
Since this failed I tried to make a network connection from the laptop to the computer with the result hereafter :
On the laptop : file and print resource (DESKTOP-L....) is online but isn’t responding to connection attempts. error code 0x80070035.
The remote computer isn’t responding to connections on port 445, possibly due to firewall or security settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable.
Windows couldn’t find any problem with the firewall on your computer.
    netbios over TCP/IP is enabled,
Network discovery is on, file and printer sharing as well and the printer is marked as shared.
I followed the tutorial option one and checked and eventally changed the settings accordingly on both desktop and laptop.

I can connect from (DESKTOP-L....) to the laptop (DESKTOP-U.....)
I ran netbscanner, same result : the computer sees the laptop, the laptop does not see the computer.

Since this going on for a while now, I hope someone can help me out, I cannot think of anything any more and followed all the recommendations I could find.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, increasingly there seem to be people reporting difficulties with networking. Granted there are many configuration issues.

A small number are reporting problems after some Windows update or other.

Please have a look through these and see if anything helps:

    Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I did a network reset but nothing changed. The network is still private and discovery is still on.
The computer restarted and asked if I wanted the computer to be discoverable, clicked yes...........

That's just one possibility.. see what more you can pick out from my post. My guess, lacking a wizard, is you'll just need to be patient and methodical. Try creating a tick list for each PC, then when you've been through that, post that. Something that's easy for someone to scan through, ideally with reference to a tutorial. When I set one up I had to go round a couple of times before it worked.

E.g. I posted a link to a youtube video that got favourable comments (post #2 in one of those threads)...
Then there may already be good things out there.. I've not watched this but the comments seem favourable, so just an idea in principle:

Thanks for your reply. Since I can make contact with the laptop through the network from the computer, I can copy documents and paste on the computer and print them. This is the only workaround I can come up with. Don't know maybe the feature update to 1909 will solve my problem. Anyway I used windows 7 before and everything worked perfectly.
I will certainly create that list you're talking about.

Hi, here is my example- two laptops, one Wifi (thinkpad) 1 ethernet (PC Specialist). I have an ancient Canon USB connected to the latter, marked as shared.

Laptop trying to make network connection with computer-1.png
As viewed from the Thinkpad.. and here's the next level down showing the printer:
Laptop trying to make network connection with computer-2.png

Both running 1903. Both PCs are shown under Network on both PCs.

Windows cannot connect to the printer.Check the printer name. If it is a network printer make sure it is turned on and that the printer address is correct.
Now suddenly that seems to ring a bell. When I first tried configuring either one PC or the printer as shared, it couldn't be seen. I had to use a different name for it.. maybe a shorter one. Sorry, it's a dim memory..

But I think first you need to resolve this:
the laptop does not see the computer.
The remote computer isn’t responding to connections on port 445, possibly due to firewall or security settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable.
    - are you using a 3rd party firewall or any special firewall rules?

You can check settings on both starting with this (from list in link in my post above)

As I explained before, I can make connection from the computer to the laptop, not the other way around. The printer is on the computer, since I cannot see the public files, it's quite obvious that also the printer cannot be found. So I suppose I have to try first to establish contact between those two before I can even try to have the shared printer operational.
Both computers have kaspersky internet security firewall.
Settings < Additional < Network settings < monitor selected ports only. No networked printer port mention on both laptop and computer.
The first thing I did was follow that tutorial, which is very clear, but not working for me so far.

Thank you for your reply. I know that.

I could play loads of guessing games and say is this set, how is this set etc- you've provided nothing by way of evidence of any settings.

I have provided you lots of material- not just that tutorial. I believe I used two.

Without being able to go through all your settings all else is a guessing game, and alas, my crystal ball is currently down for scheduled maintence.

Thank you for your effort. I tried everything, did that tutorial a few times, checking and re-checking, used all the methods, nothing worked. I still don't understand why, I can see the computer on the laptop under network, when I click on it it does not connect.
The thing is I bought this computer last Thursday and since then, well....... I'm fed up with this, still, I will search for a solution maybe later or just use that workaround as long as that works.

After following that tutorial nothing seemed to work. Thanks to the help of KIS forum and their support I was able to solve it.
    It's simply a firewall problem.
All networks have to be set as 'trusted' except the internet.
The packet rules for local services TCP and UDP should be allowed.
After that I was able to share the printer on all computers.
