Windows 10 computer name doesn't automatically appear in "Network"

For whatever reason I can't seem to get the <computer name> to show in the "Network" in File Explorer.

I CAN however type "\\<computer name>\Users" in the top box and open it up fine.
It even temporarily places the <computer name> in the tree on the left.
However, it still doesn't show up on the right when opening the "Network" tree...even after a Refresh.

Once I close the File Explorer, it disappears from the tree.

This happened on both a Desktop and Tablet.

The previous version (Windows 8) did not appear to have this problem as the computer names (of those that are ON) would always appear automatically.

It looks like if I start this:
    Function Discovery Resource Publication
    ...it works.

It was set to "Manual" (but Status was not "Running") so I changed it to "Automatic". So I guess it then ensures it starts. Is there a reason why it doesn't start as compared to in Windows 8 (which is also defaulted to "Manual")?

Yes, automatic ensures it runs at startup. Make sure both Function Discovery Services are running and startup is set to Automatic.

Yes, MS is changing things with networking (i.e. HomeGroup removed, SMBv1 not installed by default, etc).

Note: In the current Insider Preview (1809 that's scheduled to be released next month) ... both Function Discovery Services default to Automatic.

MS needs to get Mail and Networking down pat. Not like this is something new to computer world. It should just work.

Well I don't know about "Networking", but "Mail" we know there's an incentive to purchase Outlook from them to get anything "modern".

So what exactly determines if these services Start by themselves. Both of those default as Manual, however only one Starts. Or perhaps I did something (after my clean install) that triggered one to Start but not the other? Which presumably is a different behavior from the old Windows 8...
