    1803 not sharing folder

I am baffled at this new 1803 as when I share folder on my network no PC can see it in Network in explorer.

I aware homegroup is gone but how can I share a folder on my network to another windows 10 or 7 PC?

I right click folder etc & share there I tried everyone & guest & it wont show up on other PCs

I went into Windows Features & Under SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support unchecked SMB 1.0/ CIFS Server
& left the SMB 1.0/ Client checked there was no other options in there to do as I read somewhere.

How do I get my shared folders to appear in explorer on other machines?

On your Win10 PC check Windows Services for the following two services ...

Function Discovery Provider Host - Running and Startup Type set to Automatic Delay
Function Discovery Resource Publication - Running and Startup Type set to Automatic Delay

Glad you got it fixed :)

FYI .. If you notice PC's not showing up in network from time to time, set those two services startup type to Automatic Delay.

Which 2 to delay? I did 1 from manual to automatic. But now problem I still not see shared folder I did a diagnose on other PC saying cant access something to do with port 445 & says online but not responding to connection attempts
I am not sure what is on port 445 i check firewall but not sure what I need to allow for this file & network discovery are checked.

The Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication Services. I don't know why, but on my PC if I set the startup type to Auto, sometimes Function Discovery Provider Host doesn't start on a reboot.

    1. Is you network set to private?
    2. Are you using a 3rd party firewall ?
    3. Is File & Print Sharing enabled in firewall ?

Have you checked Firewall > Advanced Settings for The File and printer sharing (SMB)

Control Panel > Windows Defender Firewall > Advanced Settings ...
Inbound Rules - The File and printer sharing (SMB-IN)
Outbound Rules - The File and printer sharing (SMB-OUT)

If you still can't get it to work, you might try restoring firewall defaults - Restore Default Windows Defender Firewall Settings in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

I didn't see an out option but the in i selected the private checked it here a photo

    1803 not sharing folder-smb.jpg

I also reset firewall & did a network reset also & turned off the firewall & still wont let a connection though.

This started since the 1803 came though I had homegroup on here before the upgrade.

Even after reset you don't have the The File and printer sharing (SMB-OUT) ?

I wouldn't turn off Firewall, IIRC turning it off will block stuff.

How about your Win7 PC, have you checked the Firewall on it ?
