    If not a DNS issue (which would affect all browsers) I reckon it's likely down to security software. What do you use?

    Suggest run Minitoolbox

    Downloading MiniToolBox

    Select everything and upload results. Maybe it will provide clues.

    Also suggest run ZHP cleaner as per this post:

    Here are just a few bookmarks of mine that don't connect:
    ExRx.net : Home
    Color and black and white Japanese crosswords on-line
    TV Tropes
    http://macromeme.com/
    paizo.com - Paizo
    May the Food be with you.

    Avira's website isn't bookmarked, but still doesn't load for me.

    Can you get to any of the sites using this?

    WebKick

    What did ZHP cleaner find if anything?

    ZHP found three items, which I repaired afterward. The link for Webkick, however, fails to load, timing out like the rest of the sites. Here is also the MTB log.

    Well I'm pretty much out of ideas. Perhaps try using a blank HOSTS file (copy existing HOSTS file and rename to HOSTS.old first)

    Also my HOSTS file starts like this:

    Code:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
    127.0.0.1 local
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
    fe80::1%lo0 localhostff02
    ::1 ip6-allnodesff02
    ::2 ip6-allrouters
    0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

    Also try disabling hardware acceleration in browsers;

    Disable Avira Web Protection component and test:

    Web Protection Blocks Valid Sites - Avira Answers

    if you delete the contents of the avira program's "TEMP" folder, which includes a "webguard" folder, deleting the webguard folder causes webguard to malfunction, causing problems with connecting to websites.. if you are deleting the contents of the avira program's "TEMP" folder, which includes deleting the "webguard" folder, that could be what is causing the problems that you are experiencing..
    Maybe remove Avira just to test.

    How do I uninstall my Avira product?...

    Not surprisingly, that website fails to load as well. Disabling hardware acceleration does not fix the issue.
