    outlook files

I feel like I was running in circles so I decided to give it a rest. I went back through all my posts/answers and came up with the following screen shots of the results of my selections.

Based on this information, perhaps I could get some suggestions on what to do next.

When I select Start, this is the list of apps I have.....

    When I select Mail..........
    Lost Outlook files after recover-select-mail.png

When I select "email address" YAHOO.....
    Lost Outlook files after recover-connecting-service.png

At that point there is "connecting to a service" but nothing happens.

When I select Outlook from the Start/Apps...... it searches for an account and comes up with my email
When I select connect it adds my email and asks for a password......

    Lost Outlook files after recover-imap-password.png

I've tried to find out how to recover my password but without success.

I found Office 365 in my apps list and uninstalled it.
I now have only my recovered version of "Office Home & Business 2016 for PC click to run"

So the Start menu entry for Office 365 has been removed. You uninstalled it?

And you are not referring to this [the browser interface to the online outlook.com service]
    Lost Outlook files after recover-untitled.png
    but to MSOffice Outlook?

Please would you click on the Outlook entry shown in your latest diagram and post a screenshot of it so it is clear what is being used.
    - Or at least post what is shown when you click on its File menu then select Office account.
    - You can use MSPaint to cut out your email address & any other private info from the screenshot

    All the best,

    Yes. I uninstalled Office 365.

[the browser interface to the online outlook.com service]......

That screen shot is what I get when I select Outlook from the group of office apps at the top right of the Start menu. (see screen shots below) I believe it is the browser interface as you suggest since it shows https://outlook.live.com/mail/ in the address bar. I didn't know that until you pointed it out. I thought it was from my Office 2016.

"post what is shown when you click on its File menu then select Office account."

Sorry, I don't know what you are referring to for; "its File menu"

I just want to say how much I appreciate your help.

Your first diagram [although only part of the interface is shown] makes me think you have clicked on the Mail icon.

Your Outlook 2016 will look something like this.

    or this

By the way, your last diagram betrays your email address.

When I select Start, I have "Mail" in the app list.....
When I select Mail....... I get the second diagram as shown on page #22 above.

When I select Outlook from the Start/Apps......
it opens a window with "searching for accounts" in the dialog box,
    it then finds my email,
puts my email in the dialog box
and makes the "CONNECT" link active, (As shown in the diagram that betrays my email address....)

When I select CONNECT, I get the box that asks for a password......

The 2 diagrams that you posted don't look familiar.

I will review the "How to Remove...." and see if I can delete those images.

At this point I have selected everything I can find related to Outlook and put all the resulting diagrams in this post, none of which look like the 2 you posted above.

Is there a way that I can be sure that I am opening Outlook 2016????

Make it fill the screen and post a screenshot.

You can also start it by running this [right-click on the Start menu then select Run and paste it in there then click on the OK button].
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE"
which I took from my Outlook 2021 shortcut.
    - If there is any problem then browse to see if you have that folder. I am only guessing that Outlook 2016 lives in the same place as Outlook 2021. I found an old screenshot that displayed part of this path so I think it is correct.

I don't have an app for "Outlook 2016" in my Start Menu and I have tried everything else related to Outlook that I can find. Can you tell me what exactly what it is you want me to make a screenshot of?

I also did Start menu typed in run and pasted "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE" which took me to a website.
