Office 2019 Business Full 1 PC License (and old Publisher)

Hi.

Right from the start, this topic has nothing to do with any of the Microsoft 365 SUBSCRIPTIONS plans. Everything that I am writing here is in regards to the traditional PC license(s) for one computer.

So now that's out of the way.

My wife has a PC that is currently running Office 2010. Yea, I know. A dinosaur but it still works great.

She wants to upgrade to Office 2019 but the Business license does not come with Publisher. She would have to buy the Pro license but that's over $480 including taxes. That's just not going to work with our budget.

Now of course she could just buy the Business license and Publisher license separately but then that will still comes to be a little over $400 including taxes. Not practical.

So hears my questions:

Is it possible for her to install Office 2019 Business license, then uninstall all of Office 2010 apps except for Publisher?? In other words, can she just keep Publisher on her computer and get rid of the rest of the old Office 2010 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access)??

If it's going to work, i would try this way

Uninstall 2010 first, using a dedicated uninstalling program like Geek Uninstaller or RevoUninstaller (both have freeware versions)

Then install the later Office version

Then re-install 2010, just selecting the MS Publisher option only.

That will probably work [I still install an old Office 97 application, Bookshelf, before installing Office and it is happy with that].

1 Make a system image before you start so that you can get back to square one if it all goes wrong.

2 Check if your Office 2010 installation method would allow you to uninstall individual applications [because some do not] -
Control panel,
Progs & features,
<select your entry for Office>,
right-click, Uninstall/Change,
see if it is going to let you choose items to uninstall or not,
then just cancel it - this was only to test the possibilities.

3.1 I would not uninstall anything. Just install Office 2019 and let it tell you if it objects to any of the old applications being there. Try every application to see if it all works.

3.2 If that causes problems then [& if the results of para 2 were suitable], uninstall everything in Office 2010 that you are going to overwrite with Office 2019 and then run the Office 2019 installation. Try every application to see if it all works.

It can also make bootable system images. This facility is called viBoot^^^.

Understandable. I have Office 2000 on a couple of Notebooks without issue but I did a Custom install leaving out Outlook, prefer Webmail provided by my Domain host, great at catching SPAM and anything with a virus in it. I also have no need for Macros which can carry problems in documents coming in and if needing Office forms/templates such as a simple checkbook register for Excel I get them from office.com.
