Do not worry about it. The software you install is always the full version of Macrium, the only difference between installing as Free, Trial or paid-for is the registration key.

At the end of your 30 days you will be prompted to buy a licence. If you decline the offer your Trial key will be downgraded to the Free key and you will be able to continue using your installed Macrium Reflect as the Free version.

Bree - So the user interface that Richard will see will be largely the same except that he'll notice an item disappearing when the free trial expires? Denis

@Try3 Yes, the interface for Free, Trial and Home look identical. No Premium features will be hidden when the trial ends, they just won't be available to use.

In Free if you try to use a Premium feature it will either offer to upgrade to the 30-day trial or, if you have already used the trial and it has expired, say that the feature is not available in Free.

So now your pain is over you'll be able to use Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect - TenForumsTutorials to learn how to use it and Macrium USB - TenForums to make its boot disk. That will probably be enough for you to be able to make regular system images and, should the need ever arise, to restore them.

And, as you've just seen, there are people in this forum who know Macrium Reflect well and who are always ready to jump in to help you.

There is also Macrium Reflect KnowledgeBase - user guide [version-independent link]

    Best of luck,
    Denis

I used Free for years before buying a 4-pack of licences. It does everything most users need, in fact I still use Free on some of my machines.

Thank you all for patient help, I've opened program and looked at it and there is one oddity (or I think it's odd), as I said I have a second disk which I store stuff on (H).
Macrium seems to regard second drive (H) as my No1 drive and my (C) drive as No2 ?? C drive has operating system on and is booted from (no operating system on H.
Although since I installed my 1tb Solid state C drive when the start up black screen with boot info on comes up it quotes "No hard disks detected" ? never worried about this as it must see C drive or it wouldn't boot up.

    Richard,

This drive problem is not one I know about. You can still go ahead and make the system image of your C drive and its associated partitions [which might, from what you've said, include a partition of H as well].

I suggest that you await the guidance of @NavyLCDR whose suggestions about solving this drive issue have helped others in the past.

Installing or upgrading W10 on a machine with multiple drives can sometimes end up with boot files on one drive and system files on another. Windows will boot fine, but it can be confusing when trying to decide what you need to include in a system image.

Positing a screenshot of Disk Management can help NavyLCDR diagnose what the situation is for your particular system.

By default Macrium shows all partitions on all disks as selected when you open Macrium.

If you click 'Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows' under Backup Tasks on the left Macrium will select only those partitions that are needed to restore a working Windows system. Typically a data-only partition, such as you say your H: drive is, will not be included. If you then click 'Finish' you'll have the option to run the image backup and/or save the backup as an xml backup definition file. This can be used to run your chosen backup manually from the Backup Definitions tab, or to set it up as a scheduled backup.

You are of course free to include any such data partition(s) in the images you create. On my machines I have a separate Data partition. I have made two backup definitions, one to make an image of my Windows and store it on my Data partition, another to image all partitions including the Data partition to an external HDD. I run them manually whenever I need to make a new image.
