Microsoft Office Pro Won't Install

Well, it's all over but the crying . . . by Microsoft, since I had to cancel my brand new subscription. I already have a sub that was given to me by an MVP, and I finally got that reinstalled, so I'm good for now.

Microsoft called this morning as promised, and after I told the rep I kept trying to install and inadvertently got my original MVP subscription installed, we discussed the situation further. In the end, she suggested that since I'm not having problems with the MVP subscription, and that since we cannot get the new subscription installed, I should just cancel the new sub until a solution is found for the installation problems so many folks are reporting for Microsoft Office Business Premium. She also told me the issue hasn't yet been expedited, but that it should be soon because so many are reporting installation issues.

I guess at this point, I should mark this thread as solved, although it's anything but!

Kind of amazing they didn't have you run some dumps / traces so they could actually see what is happening so they could fix.

Oh, we did lots of stuff. I downloaded at least three repair apps I've never heard of and ran those. We ran through the registry removing anything remotely Microsoft; I thought we were going to disable Windows!

She called in the "big guns" to help. If it could have been forced to install Office, it would have been. Thing is, I'm not the only one who had this happen to them. It seems there's a growing list of us.

Yes but they have had me run traces, and Malwarebytes made me do dumps so they could analyze. I was surprised they din't do that so they could get real live data as to cause.

Yes, and I have installed my Microsoft Office subscription from the first day I subscribed. You download and install the product, then when your subscription runs out it's deactivated by the OEM if you don't resubscribe.

It may be called a service, but it has to reside on a computer in order to be used. There are services that don't have to be installed, such as newspapers and such.

I used to have a client with the SaaS/Software as a Service subscription version of Office and he had to connect to the Internet at least once a month from the location where he first started with it so every time he was out of town too long [livestock broker] he would have a problem with his Desktop when he got back and I'd be called to help fix. He also had it on a tablet that was always with him and no problem there. WaaS = Windows as a Service described as such several years ago.

Because the installation process is totally different between the two. I have had a subscription to Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 for several years; Office Pro Plus installs easily every time it's necessary, such as when I do a clean install of Windows.

I decided to purchase a subscription to Office 365 Business Premium, which is a completely different product from Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016. There is a bug somewhere in the application and/or installation process. The Microsoft tech admitted failure to get Business Premium installed. Which prompted her to help me cancel my new subscription.

Microsoft Office is a subscription service.
