Laptop Will Not Recognize Microsoft Office Professional 2010

I had to replace a laptop, so I purchased a new Asus (Windows 10). When I downloaded (from my purchased disk) Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, everything seemed to go well. However, when I click on any of the programs to open (Word, Exel, etc.) a pop-up appears directing me to Microsoft store to purchase. What is going on? I thought Office 10 was supported until October 2020.

Can anyone offer me any advice on this? Thanks

you sure you are clicking on the right shortcuts?? Where do the take you find their locations? What happens if you launch word from program files without using its desktop shortcut?

You might well have a trial version of Office 365 on your new computer [it is very common].

Uninstall the trial version then you might be able to get away with merely repairing 2010. But, personally, I'd uninstall both 365 & 2010 and then re-install 2010.
Uninstall Office from a PC - Office Support
Manually uninstall Office apps - OfficeSupport
