    Acer laptop still on 1607

I have an Acer laptop still on build 1607.Looking at the update history, the update KB4041691 failed to install 6 times
but was succesful on the 7th.It has failed twice more since then and in the update section is still showing still available
install now.Is this somehow preventing further updates for installation?

    Hi Terrysutt.

If you type Troubleshooter in Cortana it should bring them up. Otherwise for this version they are in Control Panel under system. Once you start the one for Updates please ensure you run as administrator.

The fact that updates are not running smoothly could be impacting you. Interesting that device never went to 1703.

Any chance you have connection set as Metered. If metered it will not pull down such a large update, v1703

There is another process to reset Windows Update. Your history view will be reset.

I have an old ACER Aspire 5515 that came with Vista Home Basic, every month I had to do a default reset back to factory setting. I did a clean install of Win7 and had no more problems.
You might want to do a clean install of Win10, and then go to ACER's website and download the drivers you need. the clean install of Win10 will install the FCU 16299.

If you have major problems, create a media now to later on to do a clean install.

Agree, create a key so you can clean install or use it for Windows gets cranky and won't start. (Bootable media)

I also recommend looking at a product like Macrium Reflect. Free, reliable and member recommended.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect
