Best way to download the Fall Creaters Update on data limits?

    My internet has data limits.
Which way would use less data for updating 2 PCs?

    1. Update each PC through Windows Update.
    2. Download an .ISO file on 1 PC and use it on the other.

If you are only considering the one time event I don't know the duration of time for one versus the other.
It you consider what happens after the one time update you are much better off with a windows 10 iso.
With a new Windows 10 iso you can perform an in place upgrade repair or use the Windows 10 iso advanced troubleshooting menu to fix Windows.

Data limits? go for the ISO and use it on both, I've done two with one more to go that way.
The update is a reinstall of the OS, use the ISO and you are saving around 4.37 GB and avoiding downloading the same data twice.

The best way to do it for you would be to have a friend without data limits put it on a USB flash drive for you!

So does mine, but at 30GB/month it's not too restrictive.

If both PCs are 64-bit (or both 32-bit) then definitely the ISO. The upgrade downloads about 4GB, it's about the same amount whichever way you do it. Download once and use twice is the most economical use of your data - plus you get an ISO (or USB) to keep in case repairs/reinstalls are needed later.
