    So, some corruption is occurring.

Whether that's in your installation medium, or elsewhere is uncertain.

I would suggest you get a different flash drive, create a new installation disk.
    Then try again.

Ok. Thanks pal, I appreciate it.

I don't have another USB, so I guess I'll buy another or try the DVD route.
    I'll report back.

Another possibility: check your RAM... as it's an older PC.

Perhaps that might account for the error..

You can do that when booting from your old HDD..
    Tutorial available.

For what I understand you're trying to install Win 10 running setup from a running Windows on your old HDD.
    Is it correct?
    @Megahertz
It can be done, though the os letter of the new installation will not be the boring old C

    Another possibility: check your RAM.
That is a possible cause of the problem.

I tried the ram removal with no luck.

    Changing the route:
Just tested the DVD and it works apparently (it reads CDs/DVDs and it should burn also).
    And found a virgin DVD..

    So, I downloaded:
    - the ISO from the windows media creator tool (Windows.iso)
    - an ISO burner (The Official ImgBurn Website)

But when I try to burn it, it says:
Not enough space on disk to burn image
Img size: 4587 mb (windows shows that the image size is 4,810 mb)
Disk Size: 4.488 mb (the disk label says 4.7)

RAM removal? er- that was test your RAM - I mentioned there was a tutorial - in the searchable Tutorials section.. here it is..

    MemTest86+ - Test RAM

DVD - you will find you need a DUAL LAYER DVD.

Better to use a flash drive...
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10
A blank USB with at least 8 GB of space. It is recommended to use a blank USB because any content on it will be deleted.

I also seem to recall the MS media creation tool supports the direct creation of a bootable DVD..
    Its instructions say:
To create the installation media, here's what you'll need:

A PC with a reliable internet connection. The download time will vary, depending on your internet connection.

A USB flash drive, external hard drive, or DVD. A blank USB flash drive or external hard drive with at least 8 GB of space, or a blank DVD (and DVD burner). We recommend using a blank USB or blank DVD because any content on it will be deleted. When burning a DVD from an ISO file, if you're told the disc image file is too large, you'll need to use dual layer (DL) DVD media.

    I know, using the /sources/setup.exe.

Why not extracting the image from the iso to the SSD and use bcdboot to make it boot able?

When wanting/needing a clean drive I use the Bootable GPARTED LiveCD to wipe all partitions. If a CD player not available I use a Bootable Linux Mint LiveUSB Thumb drive that has the same program.

Thanks Dalchina for your post. I'll try those today.

"Why not extracting the image from the iso to the SSD and use bcdboot to make it boot able?"
But don't you need to read from the same disk that you're trying to format and install Win over?

    Thanks Berton for your comment.

Haven't you got space on your existing usb stick?

copy the sources folder from iso file onto the root of the usb stick.

then use something like anyburn free version to edit the iso file by removing the sources\install.wim or sources\install.esd file.

    Download AnyBurn

Save the edited iso file as some name that makes sense e.g. small.iso

    then burn small.iso to cd/dvd.

    ****************************************************

    plug in the usb stick.

boot from the dvd/cd that you burned small.iso onto

when you run setup from the booted media it searches the root of all drives for the installation files.

It should find the installation files on the usb stick.
