Unable to boot from flash drive to reinstall Win 10 x64

I am trying to make a fresh install of 64 bit Win10 to a windows tablet ( Dell DVP11 pro ) which is currently running 32 bit win 10 20H2

I made a flash drive with media creation tool . However when I try to boot from it , the tablet keeps booting from the HDD. I tried 2 ways a) Using F12 (b) Windows recovery . In both cases the tablet just wont boot from the flash drive. I also tried with a different flash drive but same issue . Not sure what to try next.

    Advise please. Thanks

Hi, please read this carefully as it is probably applicable.
Clean Install Windows 10 without DVD or USB Flash Drive

    Note:
    1. Assuming your tablet has limited capacity, you should stay with 32 bit Windows.
    2. If your tablet only has drivers available for 32 bit Windows (check its driver download page) then only install 32 bit Windows.

The tutorial comes from the searchable Tutorials section.

    Hint: I searched for
    'clean install tablet'

    - although I had the advantage of knowing that tutorial was there.

    1. if you cant figure out how to boot from usb why not install it from the hd if the disk is big enough?

looks like the disk it is only 64gb. Just about doable.

    2. Another way is to copy boot.wim from the installation media sources folder onto the hd. Make a winpe boot menu entry and boot into it. Run setup and it should find the installation files on the usb stick if it is plugged in.

    3. This is probably the simpler way for beginners. Boot into winre, use command prompt>notepad>Save dialog to browse to the usb stick and run setup but if it is a different bit version, you need to do either 1 or 2.

I agree with Dalchina. If the tablet has 4 G or less memory stay with 32 bits.

1 What entries are there in the Boot options menu that F12 takes you to?
Post a photo rather than typing out what it lists.

2 Can any other computers boot from that USB?

Did MCT created the Win 10 USB installation drive or did you downloaded the iso file and then transferred to the USB drive?

Use F12 to go into the Bios (if you don't have a keyboard, Press and hold the Volume Up button when the Dell logo appears on the screen). Check the settings, in particular that USB configuration is set to enable boot support...
    Option Function
USB Configuration Allows you to configure the integrated USB controller. The options:
    • Enable Boot Support
    • Enable USB3.0 Controller
    • Enable External USB Port

By default, all the options are enabled.

I was trying to upgrade my Dell DVP11 pro 5130 from 32bit to 64bit Windows10 . I made one bootable drive from Media creation tool , another using RUFUS with ISO image. The tablet wont boot from either stick . Whether I use F12 and selecting the USb stick or via Recovery mode chosing adv start up . After a short delay when the tablet tries to boot from the USB, it reverts back to booting from the HDD . I even tried the same USB sticks on a newer Dell 7140 64 bit and it also wont boot from those USB drives. I prepared. I must have prepared them incorrectly ?

Post #2 gives you a way to install Win 10

This tutorial will show how to do this, how to clean install using it without any external media.

Try temporarily turning off Secure Boot in the bios, then see if the USBs will boot.
