Hello all,
I am trying to install from a USB media install disk to a new Kingston 480gb ssd. I've been into the bios to select boot from usb, but it says boot device not found.
Should the ssd be formatted first? Is this a factor?

Welcome to the forum how did you make the usb? If you download from ms and let it create it it works the other thing is are you booting the correct mode if you set to uefi and the usb isn't you will have to change bios to match. If you have another pc check if it will boot from it so you know usb is ok
Thank you for your welcome. I'm not totally up on pcs ...a friend downloaded the media inst usb...it worked on another pc fine bug I guess it's about the eufi. How do I change the bios to match the usb..which mide select? If its working on one mode select the other...there doesn't seem to be another mode...I hope you can translate that and give me feed back!!!

I suggest you build the USB Win 10 22h2 installation drive using MCT so it can boot as Legacy or UEFI.
Clean Install Windows 10
Reset BIOS or load defaults.
Set Disk mode to AHCI, not RAID
Select OS mode = UEFI or Select OS mode = other + UEFI (depends on BIOS).
Disable fast boot and secure boot (you can turn it on after installation)
Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.
If you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT
Detach any other drives (SATA or Power cable) from the MB.
During POST, press F12(?) to launch the boot menu. You will see two options for the USB drive. USB UEFI (Name) and USB (Name). Select USB UEFI (Name) if you want to install as UEFI-GPT or select USB (name) if you want to install as Legacy-MBR.
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.
If you don't want to use MS account, don't enable updates or connect to the internet during installation.
Depending which your PC's BIOS/UEFI supports there are two possible ways to select the boot device.I've been into the bios to select boot from usb, but it says boot device not found.
a. Set boot priority in your BIOS/UEFI
b. Hit a certain key during POST as the PC attempts to boot so a device selection menu is presented.
Check with your device manufacturer's site which applies.
