    Locked out

    Hi group

I have a Dell 8920, 6 years old. I moved to W 11 as soon as I could. Now, I wanted to go back toW 10. So, I started the process and it was going normally. Suddenly it went dark. Now,I cant get beyond the lock screen. My password wont work. keyboard doesnt work. f12 boot menu wont come up. f2 b setup wont come up. I am locked out and no clue what to do. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Hi, how long ago did you upgrade to Win 11? By default you can't roll back to Win 10 after 10 days.

Secondly, do you use 3rd party disk imaging regularly and routinely as is endlessly recommended here?
If so, do you have a relevant disk image of your Win 10 installation?

Hi,, Thanks,, I was in the insider program since the beginning, so I know that is a big part of the issue. Dell has the option to create a disk that they say will restore w10, but that's the disk I was using here, Thanks

Is your data backed up in case you have to re-install ?

I believe that Dell image will clean install.

I don't see a reply to my post.

Assuming you upgraded over 10 days ago, and you don't (yet) use disk imaging, your only option will be a clean install.

If you also don't have good backups, then you wil have to recover data from your system partition first.

    Good luck.

In this video, you will find detailed instructions on how to enable the hidden administrator account on Windows 11,10, 8, 7 or Vista based computer, by modifying the Windows Registry Offline in case you cannot login to Windows by using another account with admin rights.

If you start your machine and before you get to Windows sign on, power it off. When you see rolling dots. Do this a total of three times. On the forth Windows should start with the Advance Startup Options. If you follow the panels you can pick UEFI.

This makes me think that either the Bios or the keyboard is defective.
I find both unlikely because both must have been alright so very recently.

Does your model of Dell have a Bios recovery method?

Do you know whether or not your Windows 11 used device encryption?

If you had the power state 'S0 Modern standby' then device encryption would have been enabled by default.
